The way inflation has risen, the government is expected to increase the costly allowances of central government employees under the Seventh Pay Commission soon. According to sources, the DA may be increased up to 5 percent. In that case, the DA may increase to 39 percent for central government employees. At present, central government employees receive 34 per cent of their basic salary as DA. DA is changed according to All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI). At present, with the rise in AICPI, expensive allowances for government employees are likely to increase. 

Retail inflation stood at 7.04 per cent in May, well above the RBI's target level of 2-6.

How DA Calculate:

Dearness Allowance Percentage = ((Average of All-India Consumer Price Index (Base Year 2001=100) for the past 12 months -115.76)/115.76)x100.

How much money will increase?


If the basic pay of an employee is Rs 18,000, then he is currently getting Rs 6,120 as DA. After the increase in DA in April, they are now getting 34 percent DA. This time, if it is increased to 39 percent, then in case of basic pay of Rs 18,000, DA will get Rs 6,020. In other words, the salary is going to increase by 900 rupees.
