According to the Alipore Meteorological Department, the highest temperature in Kolkata was 39.2 degrees Celsius on Saturday. Which is 3 degrees higher than normal. The city's minimum temperature on Saturday was 29.6 degrees Celsius, 3 degrees above normal. Temperatures are expected to range between 29 degrees and 40 degrees Celsius on Sunday



There was no heat wave in the city on Saturday either. Heat wave is not likely in Howrah, Hooghly, Purulia, Jhargram, West Midnapore, Bankura, West Burdwan, East Burdwan, Birbhum, Murshidabad and Nadia on Sunday. However, the remaining three districts of the south i.e. East Medinipur, North 24 Parganas and South 24 Parganas may experience heat wave on Sunday.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced a holiday in all government and private schools, colleges and educational institutions of the state from Monday. He said, this holiday will continue till Saturday. The state government is issuing notification soon. Heat wave is going on in the state. It is said that this step is to save the students from that. In an interview given to APB Anand on Sunday, the Chief Minister said, “I am asking to declare holidays in government and private schools from Monday. Shouldn't an arrangement be made in the interests of the people? From Monday to Saturday - All government and private schools, colleges, educational institutions are applying to give holidays. The government will issue a notification.”

However, depending on the weather, private schools may also respond to the Chief Minister's request. However, many parents of private school students are not sure what will happen on Monday. They think, after sending to school on Monday, it will be understood which way the schools are going to walk. On Sunday, the weather office said that there will be no heat wave in several districts of South Bengal including Kolkata. However, heatwave-like conditions are likely to develop, the Met Office said. The temperature will not drop much in the city. The mercury in Kolkata may touch 40 degrees on Sunday as well. As a result, the discomfort is not decreasing, it is certain. Children and the elderly are the most affected in this situation. The old people who used to bring the students to school also fell ill. Such concern has been heard in the voice of the Chief Minister.
